Accessible Art Song Repertoire for the Collegiate Voice

With this project, I am creating art song repertoire that meets the needs of diverse collegiate voice students and instructors. Over 2024-25, I will engage with voice faculty and students to identify their needs and challenges; create compositions for a variety of voice types; and develop a framework for other composers to create accessible repertoire appropriate to the singer’s skill level, experience, and interests. This project will fill a gap in practice and pedagogy, which lacks examples, textbooks, and teaching materials that foster accessible voice-writing techniques.
